UHealth’s Titan Canes Nurse Residency Program has earned accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission in Practice Transition Programs (PTAP)—a symbol of excellence shared by only a select group of health care institutions worldwide.

Designed to support new nurse graduates as they transition into clinical practice, the program offers a structured, supportive environment across specialties including surgical, oncology, critical care, and ambulatory care.

What to Expect from Your Titan ‘Canes Residency Experience

We believe that behind every confident, successful nurse is a solid foundation of unparalleled training and support.
Through our Nurse Residency Program, you’ll build the advanced skills and competencies needed to enhance your transition into clinical practice with ongoing mentorship from nursing staff, leaders and academic experts.

Our 12-month program, in partnership with HealthStream Jane AI and Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency programs, offers you the opportunity to:

  • Grow your professional leadership and emotional intelligence skill

  • Deliver high-quality patient care

  • Advance your empathetic listening and communication

  • Contribute to the advancement of health care through research and quality improvement projects

  • Access continuing education courses, resources and most up-to-date health information

Program Information

  • Orientation to the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics (UMHC) system, nursing department, standards of care, and clinical skills

  • Didactic lectures covering UMHC’s Policies and Core Competencies, based on specialty curriculum

  • 14 to 18 weeks of unit-based training with a qualified preceptor and Clinical Educator

  • Monthly education sessions that address leadership, patient outcomes, and professionalism

Eligibility Requirements

  • Graduate from accredited school of nursing

  • Bachelor’s in nursing (BSN) preferred*
    *RNs hired with an (ASN) will have 2 years to complete the BSN degree

  • Valid Florida RN License

  • BLS & ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association

  • Less than 12 months of full-time RN experience by hire date


 
Application Process 
The Titan Canes Residency Program runs three cohorts each year: around March, July, and October. Applications open one month in advance and remain active for one week. Join our Talent Community to be notified when the next application window opens.
